    Why seek Counselling?

Counselling provides a confidential space to talk with a trained mental health professional who can help improve your wellbeing and discover solutions. For some, it is important that their Counsellor or Psychologist shares their own values and beliefs. Counselling is not simply for people who are in crisis, you might seek out counselling for:

    • Individual mental health and wellbeing
    • Discovering meaning and purpose
    • Relationship improvement
    • Self-development
    • Building resilience
    • Goal-setting
    • Changing dysfunctional life patterns

For decades, ACS has been providing professional counselling, along with various group workshops and pre-marital preparation.

    What does ACS provide?

    • Individual mental health counselling for adults and adolescents
    • Psychometric assessment
    • EAP (Employee Assistance Program) for employees of the Seventh-Day Adventist church and schools
    • Group education through presentations or workshops for your church, school or workplace
    • Prepare-Enrich pre-marriage preparation course
    • Professional supervision for Counsellors and Psychologists in training (AHPRA-approved)

    Relationship/Marriage Preparation

The Prepare-Enrich marriage course is designed for couples planning to marry, and for couples who have already been together long-term.

    • PREPARATION for couples planning to marry – the course stimulates greater understanding and discussion between couples with an emphasis on communication and conflict resolution skills; and understanding the unique differences between individuals in a couple and how to navigate these differences.
    • ENRICHMENT for married couples – the course is aimed at developing and rejuvenating a long-term relationship.

    Medicare Rebates

ACS is able to provide Medicare rebates for eligible clients who obtain a referral from their GP. Talk to your GP about whether you meet the criteria. Other rebates are available if you are in financial hardship, please discuss this with the receptionist when you call to make a booking.

    Telehealth Services

ACS offers the option to access remote counselling via video-conferencing or phone. The Government has made Medicare rebates available for these Telehealth consultations due to COVID-19. Eligible clients can access these rebates for up to 20 psychology sessions per year.
