The Greater Sydney Conference’s upcoming Pacific for Christ mission initiative received a significant boost recently, with Sydney Adventist Women raising $16,000 to support evangelistic outreach in the Solomon Islands.

The funds were raised through a mission fundraiser held on 23 May and will assist with accommodation, airfares, transport and ministry resources for a team of women participating in the Solomon Islands mission program. The group will join the wider Greater Sydney Conference mission initiative taking place as part of Pacific for Christ 2026, an evangelistic movement across the Trans Pacific Union Mission.
From early to mid-July, around 25 pastors and lay members from Greater Sydney will travel to the Solomon Islands and American Samoa to support local churches through evangelism, community engagement, children’s ministry, health outreach and prayer. The Solomon Islands team will serve from 5–18 July, while the American Samoa mission will run from 12–24 July.
Women’s Ministries Director Meleofa Tovo expressed gratitude to the many churches, supporters and volunteers whose generosity made the fundraiser possible. The event highlighted the strong commitment of Sydney Adventists to sharing the hope of Jesus beyond their local communities.
As preparations continue, church members are invited to uphold the mission teams in prayer. Please pray for safe travel, for the Holy Spirit to prepare hearts in the communities being reached, and for God’s blessing on every aspect of the ministry.
The Conference Prayer Ministries department will also be coordinating special days of prayer on 4 July and 11 July in support of the Pacific for Christ initiative.
