Global Children’s Sabbath – Celebrating the Gift of Children

Global Children’s Sabbath is an annual celebration that brings churches around the world together to recognise the gift of children and the unique ways God works through them.

Research shows that when children feel they belong in their church community, they are more likely to remain connected to their faith as they grow. A child-friendly church not only nurtures young disciples but also serves as a welcoming and powerful witness to the wider community. The early years, particularly between the ages of 0 and 14, are also an important time when many children make lifelong decisions to follow Jesus.

This year’s theme, XOXO Jesus: Made With Love & Sent From Above, invites children and families to discover the life-changing messages Jesus has written on our hearts—that we are loved, known, forgiven, gifted, chosen, and part of God’s family.

Churches are encouraged to involve children throughout the worship service by inviting them to sing, read Scripture, pray, share stories and participate in other meaningful ways. As congregations explore these “letters from Jesus” together, every generation is reminded that they are part of God’s story of love.
