The atmosphere at Watson Park in Brisbane was filled with anticipation, unity, and a deep sense of purpose as representatives from across the South Pacific gathered for the launch of South Pacific for Christ. Held from 28 April to 2 May 2026, the event brought together around a thousand participants, reflecting the diversity and beauty of the region, united by one clear calling to reach hearts, transform lives, and prepare the nations for the return of Jesus.

The main speaker for the event was Pastor Erton Köhler, President of the General Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Alongside him, leaders from the General Conference, South Pacific Division, the Australian Union, and other unions contributed to a powerful and inspiring program. Through meaningful messages, practical workshops, and moving testimonies, participants were both encouraged and equipped for the mission ahead.
One of the strongest themes throughout the event was a simple but powerful truth: God is able to do miracles, even in places where it may seem impossible. Stories shared from Papua New Guinea, Fiji, and other island fields revealed God’s hand at work, opening doors, changing lives, and bringing hope to communities. These testimonies reminded everyone that the same God who has worked in the past is ready to do even greater things in the future.
The call throughout the week was clear: dream big for God. Not with small or comfortable plans, but with a bold, faith-filled vision that places Him at the very centre. South Pacific for Christ is more than a single event; it is a united commitment across the Division to share the hope of Jesus with communities throughout the region. This journey will begin with One Voice 2027: Mission for All, a year of intentional preparation focused on sharing Jesus through social media, publications, local church initiatives, and evangelistic programs.
Workshops also played an important role in shaping this vision. As one participant shared, they were a powerful educational tool to further the mission of evangelism and discipleship, offering practical ideas and fresh inspiration. Many also reflected on the blessing of being part of something bigger, a global church family united in purpose, with one goal – preparing people for the second coming of Jesus Christ.

Greater Sydney Conference staff and pastoral teams at the South Pacific for Christ launch.
For the Greater Sydney Conference, this gathering provided a valuable opportunity to sharpen the vision for Sydney for Christ in 2028. The journey is already beginning, with a launch event planned for 8 August 2026 in Sydney, inviting members across the Conference to become involved in the mission.
What began at Watson Park is more than a gathering, it is a spark. There is a growing hope and prayer that this spark will inspire a renewed commitment to mission across the South Pacific, spreading from field to field and heart to heart, and encouraging churches, communities, and individuals to move forward together in faith and purpose.
