In 2026, the Trans Pacific Union Mission (TPUM) is set to host Pacific for Christ, a large-scale evangelistic campaign of the South Pacific Division aligned with the “I Will Go” strategy (Mission Refocus initiative), of the General Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. This focus builds on the incredible impact of Papua New Guinea (PNG) for Christ in 2024, where more than 100 pastors and members from Australia were a part of PNG for Christ and came home with a renewed enthusiasm for mission in Australia.
More than 1,800 sites have been targeted across the TPUM region.
The South Pacific Division’s Pacific for Christ initiative is an invitation for every church member, pastor and local congregation to engage in frontline mission. Here is a timeline of events:
- In 2026, Pacific for Christ will support TPUM for Christ. The Greater Sydney Conference will focus on our partner missions in the Solomon Islands (5-18 July) and American Samoa (12-24 July) as a Conference initiative.
- The Prayer Ministries department will be leading special days of prayer on God’s blessings to pour over each event.
- July 4th for Solomon Islands
- July 11th for American Samoa
- The Prayer Ministries department will be leading special days of prayer on God’s blessings to pour over each event.
- In 2027 Pacific for Christ will support the New Zealand Pacific Union Conference (NZPUC) for Christ. The Greater Sydney Conference will focus on our partner mission in the Cook Islands as a Conference initiative.
- In 2028 it’s us – Australia for Christ. Australia for Christ is not a one-off event, not a programme, not a fast-track campaign. It is a renewed emphasis across the life of our church on what it means to refocus our mission. In tangent with Church Next, Australia for Christ will kick off training in Brisbane in 2026.
For the Greater Sydney Conference, this is more than a project—it is an opportunity to join a Spirit-led movement of revival and transformation.
These are places where members from Greater Sydney can make a meaningful difference. Through preaching, teaching, health outreach, community engagement and prayer, our involvement will help strengthen local churches and support long-term mission growth.
Why Pacific for Christ Matters
Mission trips have a strong role in Adventist history. They spark revival, strengthen faith through service and open our eyes to God’s work beyond our borders. Above all, taking our mission into the community and abroad reminds us of the Church’s core purpose: to make disciples.
Evangelism not only blesses those we minister to, it renews the hearts of those who go to preach, pray and serve. We saw this through PNG (Papua New Guinea) for Christ, when Greater Sydney pastors returned with strengthened faith and renewed passion. We also experienced it through local initiatives such as Sydney Harvest 25, where members shared their spiritual gifts through service.
When we step out of our comfort zone, God steps in with power. Mission softens hearts, deepens prayer life, and restores our identity as a people called for a purpose. Those who participate often testify to blessings like these:
- A new hunger for Scripture
- A deeper prayer connection
- A clearer sense of calling
- Renewed passion for local church ministry
Mission reminds us why we became—and remain—Adventists. It restores spiritual confidence and awakens a sense of urgency for God’s kingdom.
Nearly 20 pastors from Greater Sydney have already expressed interest in joining Pacific for Christ 2026. We praise God for this and encourage many more to consider taking part.
But this mission is not only for pastors. We need lay members, young adults, elders, ministry leaders, families and retirees to step out in faith and serve. Every person has something to contribution—prayer, preaching, teaching, children’s ministry, music, health outreach, logistics or simply being present to encourage local believers.
An Invitation
We invite every church member and pastor to help with the following:
- Pray earnestly about being part of this mission. Ask God if He is calling you to the Solomon Islands or American Samoa this year. Support those who go.
- Join the Greater Sydney movement of revival through mission. This is not just another event. It’s an opportunity for God to reshape our conference through shared mission.
Partner Prayerfully
Pacific for Christ calls us back to the heart of Adventism—mission. It invites us to step out in faith, experience personal revival and help share the gospel with communities ready to receive it.
Greater Sydney Conference, let us rise together. Let us partner prayerfully, serve joyfully, and believe boldly that God will use us for His work. Where the church goes in mission, revival always follows.
