GSC’s 5 Strategic Foci, Mission, Vision & Purpose

Our mission in Greater Sydney is to make disciples of Jesus Christ and grow together in discipleship. We focus on this mission through five (5) strategic areas.

    Overview

In 2018, participants of the first Biennial Greater Sydney Conference “Mission2Sydney Think Tank,” (delegate selected from each local church) came up with five strategies to guide our Conference—which were then approved by vote at the Constituency Session a few months later. The five strategies were:

There were 5 areas of strategic focus that emerged from our time together, which were:

    • Growing together:  Intergenerational discipleship and transfer of figurative ownership (giving our young adults and youth the keys to the church, for example).

    • Community engagement: Finding ways to add value to our local communities to build relationship bridges however that looks for each church and member.

    • Media engagement:  Digital resourcing & engagement, marketing, branding and public relations

    • Increasing spiritual temperature: Turning up the spiritual temperature of our Conference.  We had our first Conference-wide prayer retreat 6-8 April and are already planning 30 days of prayer in 2019 after IGNITE with our 2nd annual prayer retreat shortly thereafter.

    • Member Empowerment:  Our churches would like to empower all our members to be involved in ministry and the church mission.

At the “2020 Think Tank,” held at the Grand Royale Function Centre in Granville from 14-15 February 2020, delegates focused on the following strategies:

    • Community Engagement
    • Growing Together

Our time together in fellowship, worship, prayer and discussion was valuable and continues to have lasting effect.  We were blessed by the presentations and the foci from the combined collation of ideas and thoughts. Together these are helping guide the development of the conference strategic plan, mission and vision.

    Church Overview

We believe that spiritual and emotional wellbeing foster an active mind, an active mind is fuelled by a healthy body, and a healthy body and mind enable healthy social relationships. To this end, we subscribe diligently to studying the Bible, wholistic health and wellness, and serving our communities. – LINK

    About the delegates

Based on the size of membership, the Conference invited churches (church companies, plants and groups) to select a specific number of delegates (church members) to attend the “2020 Think Tank.”

Churches with a membership under 50 were invited to send two (2) delegates in addition to the pastor. Churches with a membership of 50 plus were invited to send five (5) delegates in addition to the pastor. It was required that at least one (1) of  the delegates were under 30 years of age.

We called for passionate church members with the following attributes:

    • Visionaries, Strategic Thinkers & Thought Leaders
    • Youth, Church Planters & Senior Elders
    • Evangelism Coordinators & Personal Ministries Leaders

    Mission, Vision & Purpose

Our mission in Greater Sydney is to make disciples of Jesus Christ and grow together in discipleship. This is based on the directions that Jesus gave His first disciples, after He died on the Cross for the forgiveness of our sins and then was resurrected back to life to give us the promise and hope of eternal life. As we get closer to the Second Coming, Jesus has a special message of good news for us to share with the world, to invite people to become His disciples, join His prophetic end-time movement and prepare for His soon return.

Our vision is to be, “a thriving, disciple-making movement in Greater Sydney”.

Our purpose is to transform lives for eternity by providing hope, encouraging faith and showing love.
