More than 600 young people from churches across the Greater Sydney Conference gathered at Mount View Adventist College on Saturday, 13 June, for the Sydney Adventist Youth Rally Day, with even more participants joining later in the evening for the annual Sports Cup. The day combined worship, fellowship, and friendly competition while strengthening connections across the Conference.
The afternoon rally opened with worship led by Westside Worship, followed by a special musical item from the Fijian Combined Choir. An interactive icebreaker led by the Parramatta Church youth team encouraged interaction among participants, helping to create a welcoming atmosphere as young people from different churches connected throughout the afternoon.
The keynote message was presented by Pastor Rangi Eiao, who encouraged attendees to remain confident in God’s calling, regardless of life’s circumstances. Reflecting on the assurance of God’s constant presence in every season, Pastor Eiao reminded the audience that whether on the mountaintop or in the valley, God faithfully walks with His people wherever He leads them. He encouraged those present to place their trust in God’s purpose for their lives.
As the afternoon worship concluded, the evening Sports Cup brought even more participants together, with teams competing in volleyball and basketball. Churches from across the Conference enjoyed an evening of friendly competition marked by encouragement, sportsmanship, and fellowship.
The event was made possible through the support of pastors, church members, families, Pathfinder groups, and volunteers, who contributed through food stalls, fundraising initiatives, and practical help throughout the day. Their involvement reflected the wider church’s commitment to supporting and encouraging its young people.
For many, the day was about more than worship and sport – it was an opportunity to reconnect with community and strengthen their faith.
“The last time I was invited here was after three years away from church. From that moment, I reconnected with my community again,” one attendee shared.
Stories like this highlight the impact gatherings such as the Youth Rally Day can have in creating welcoming spaces where young people feel valued, connected, and encouraged in their faith journey.
As the Greater Sydney Conference continues to support youth ministry, events like the Youth Rally Day provide opportunities for young people from diverse churches and backgrounds to worship together, strengthen friendships, and be reminded that they are part of a larger community of faith.
