Solomon Islands Mission Partnership

Overview

This partnership includes collecting clothing, raising money to send several containers of medical, educational and evangelistic supplies, organising fly ‘n’ builds and arranging leadership development and collaboration opportunities between departmental directors and pastors in Greater Sydney and the Solomon Islands.

Ways to Help

Donate new and gently used summer clothingClothing: Arrange for bags of clothing that are clean and neatly folded to be collected from your church and then sent to the warehouse in Wahroonga. Ask your pastor for more details.

Help sort clothing: Volunteers meet every Wednesday from 9:30 am until 3:00 pm at the distribution centre at South Pacific Division Office, Fox Valley Road, Wahroonga. Men are needed to pick up goods and help pack up to 25 containers a year. Phone Geoff Hansen on 0413 920 655 if you are interested in helping.

Donate fund: There is an option on the e-Giving App for Solomon Islands Mission or your can write “Solomon Islands Partnership in Mission” on your tithe envelope.

Donate books: “Functional literacy rates in the major provinces of the Solomon Islands are as low as 7 to 17%” (World Bank)By supporting our Books for the Solomons initiative, you can make a difference in the lives of children in the Solomon Islands. After all literacy is the key to a life beyond subsistence agriculture for these children.

Participate on a fly-and-build: Contact GSC or Dr Alex Currie 0414 777 180. We need tradespeople to be involved. Last year we had a water expert, electricians, a plumber, painter, concreter, builder etc. who all made an amazing difference in the high school on Guadalcanal.

Pray for the work of God in the Solomon Islands and for the work we do to support them. In the Conference Office,Wednesdays are set aside as special days of prayer for the Solomons. Please join the staff in prayer, especially on Wednesdays.
