    JOB VACANCY: Accounts Officer (Church)

    A great opportunity for a recent accounting graduate or an experienced bookkeeper/accounts clerk!

    Seventh-day Adventist Church (Greater Sydney Conference) Ltd, based in Wahroonga, is seeking a part time Accounts Officer (3 days p/w) for our Church Finance Team. You will have the opportunity to be part of a dynamic and passionate team that helps to facilitate growth in discipleship by providing financial support and leadership across Greater Sydney.

    Who we are

    The urban population of the Adventist Church in Sydney is diverse. The church alone is made up of nearly 12,000 members of various backgrounds who are enthusiastic about sharing, connecting, serving, and worshipping. We are comprised of:

    • 107 churches and groups
    • 14 food banks
    • 6 schools
    • 3 aged-care residences
    • 3 community centres
    • 1 campground and convention centre

    The role

    The Accounts Officer will support the Church Finance team through:

    • Data entry of journals
    • Reconciliation of accounts
    • Processing & data entry of corporate credit card transactions
    • Accounts payable and receivable
    • Distributing monthly reports for churches, debtors and employees
    • Filing of processed data as required
    • Assisting local church treasurers, and providing Tithe and Offerings support
    • Assisting in the local church auditing process

    The successful applicant will:

    • Model and nurture an active relationship with Jesus and have the ability to support the ethos of the Church Company (Greater Sydney) Ltd
    • Hold appropriate qualifications, such as an Accounting degree or certificate IV in bookkeeping, or have experience in a similar role.
    • Possess good communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Be computer literate and have good keyboard skills. A working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite and experience using a computer based accounting package would be an advantage.
    • Be organised and able to work to deadlines.
    • Demonstrate a good work ethic.
