On March 8, 2025, in celebration of International Women’s Day, West Sydney Youth, alongside young people from different regions of the Greater Sydney Conference, stepped outside their church walls to share kindness and encouragement with their community. This special day was more than just a moment of giving—it was a step toward making our churches more outward-focused and preparing for Global Youth Day, where over 5.5 million young people worldwide step out in faith to serve their communities and reflect the love of Christ.
Gathering at Blacktown Station, our youth, guided by the West Sydney Youth leadership team, shared over 300 flowers, each carrying a Bible verse and a message of hope and blessing. What seemed like a simple act of kindness quickly turned into something much greater.
Within a short time, every flower and lollipop had been handed out, sparking meaningful conversations and moments of joy. People were surprised, many asking, “Why would you do this?”—a reminder of how rare unexpected kindness can be in today’s world.
After spreading love throughout the community, we gathered near the train station entrance for a moment of prayer, testimonies, and worship. It was a beautiful way to reflect on the impact of even the smallest gestures.Later that evening, we came across a touching social media post from someone who had received a flower. It read:
“Today was one of those overwhelming days where everything felt heavy… until a kind stranger walked up to me, handed me this (flower), and said, ‘You have a really pretty smile.’ Just like that, my day felt lighter. It’s incredible how a small act of kindness can make such a big difference.”
This experience was a powerful reminder that even the simplest act of love can change a person’s day—or even their life. Through this outreach, our youth had the opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus, to share the Gospel, and to experience firsthand how faith in action can transform lives—not just for a moment, but for eternity.
Please continue to pray for our youth as they grow in their faith, discovering how God can use them to bring light to the world. May this be just the beginning of a movement that shifts our churches beyond their walls—so that we no longer only look inward, but truly see and serve the communities around us.
