Sydney Youth on the Move: Bringing Hope to Our Community
On 15 March 2025, young people across Sydney stepped out of their churches and into their communities, proving that the church isn’t just a building—it’s a movement. With hearts full of love and hands ready to serve, they embraced Global Youth Day, turning faith into action. Some churches closed their doors for the morning—not to pause worship, but to become worship—meeting people where they were, and bringing hope, kindness, and practical help to the streets of Greater Sydney.
Throughout the day, service took many forms. Teams provided food and clothing to the homeless, ensuring those in need felt seen and cared for. Mobile health screenings offered essential care and support, while other teams visited senior homes, bringing worship and companionship to brighten the day of residents. In the city, youth shared smoothies as a way to spark conversations, and groups took to the streets to clean up communities—because when youth lead, change happens.
This incredible impact was made even greater by the team effort of the Greater Sydney Conference directors, who worked together to empower and support the youth in their mission of service.
Our young people’s presence didn’t go unnoticed.
Police officers stopped by to ask who we were, and after hearing about our mission, one officer shared, “We are here to help, you are here to help, God is here to help, and we hope they will also help themselves.”
A local bakery also observed what we were doing, and after seeing the good work, they donated an incredible amount of bread and baked goods, ensuring that no one went hungry that day. The kindness of the community, combined with the service of Adventist youth, created a ripple effect of generosity and care.
Global Youth Day was a powerful reminder that the church isn’t about how many people sit in the pews but how many are sent out to serve. God blesses a church that moves.
This can’t just be a once-a-year project—this must be a lifestyle.
If you missed this year, don’t worry—we’re doing it again on 21 March, 2026! Our vision is for this event to grow beyond youth and become a full, conference-wide outreach movement—where youth, Pathfinders, community ministries, ADRA, and entire churches come together to make an even bigger impact.
